HONK!
The musical story of the ugly duckling.
"He's different," so says Ida, the new mother of an ugly duckling. This year's children's theatre production takes us on a journey from a duckyard, through a sinister cat's lair, to a flock of geese, and beyond as Ugly constantly tries to fit in and find his purpose. This show, written by the composers of Disney's new Mary Poppins, is filled with lively songs and enjoyable characters. Not only do children act, sing, and dance in the show, they design, paint, and construct the set as well. Performances run April Vacation week, so it's a perfect outing for your children and the whole family!

Each year, students of RTW have the opportunity to participate in a production class in which they put on a full-length children's theatre piece. (Past shows have included Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Wizard of Oz). Students go through the audition process in December, take scripts home with them over Christmas break, and begin rehearsing in January twice (or more for lead roles) a week until the production in April. All students receive roles and shows are double-cast so that more children are given an opportunity to shine. The production is entirely cast and run by students (overall directed by artistic director, Tara Brooke Watkins). Students in the directing apprenticeship will take part in directing various sections of the play and those in the Stagecraft! class will run tech. Performances will be throughout April vacation week.
