Intro To Singing

Ages 7-10
Mondays 4:30-5:15

An amazing class for new singers! Sometimes, jumping into one-on-one voice lessons can be intimidating for our young students. We are excited to offer a group class that will teach the fundamentals of singing, music terminology, ear training and stage presence. This class will prepare each student to be able to enter into private voice lessons and performance opportunities with confidence. This group will have the option to perform at the end of the year voice recital together as an ensemble.

Improv- Coming Spring 2023

Ages 9-13
Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm

Explore the Elements of Improv in our introductory course. You will learn the core fundamentals and principles of improv, focusing on various games and exercises that encourage trust, communication, agreement (“yes and”); active listening, character, status, and making your scene partner look good. After that, you’ll start to apply these concepts into fully improvised scenes.

Improv- Coming Spring 2023

Ages 14-19
Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm

This course will introduce students to the boundless world of improvisational theatre, allowing them to explore and expand their creativity through sight, sound and movement. This course introduces improv scene work as well as exercises that help to strengthen your improvisational skills!

Acting A Song: Musical Theatre Performance - Coming Spring 2023

Ages 14-20
Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm

It’s time to take your performance skills to the next level as you dive into learning how to perform all genres of musical theatre! This class will prepare you to be able to audition and confidently perform all styles of musical theater including but not limited to: Golden Age, Contemporary, Pop/Rock, Jukebox musicals, Comedies…etc. This class will be taught by Stefani Wood who has worked as a performer for over 20 years and as a repertoire/voice coach for over 10 years! Stefani has her B.F.A from The Boston Conservatory in Musical Theater with an emphasis in Directing and Repertoire. She has a passion for teaching a multitude of musical stylings and is so excited to share her knowledge with her students!

We are getting back to basics with this class! Students will learn the fundamentals of acting both on stage and screen (two very different styles!) through acting exercises, monologue and scene work. Students will be taught how to prepare for auditions and give a fantastic performances whether it’s in front of a crowd or film crew!

RTW offers private vocal, dance and acting lessons! Lessons are offered in 30, 45 and 60 minute slots.

Policy

There are no refunds after classes begin. Because of our faculty’s full schedules, students who are late for a private lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. Faculty will wait ten minutes for a student; students are asked to do the same. Missed lesson times due to faculty tardiness will be made up at a mutually convenient time.

Mary Poppins Jr.

Description

Students from the ages of 7 to 13 will experience the full effects of participating in a musical. Our spring Musical Theatre class offers every element of our main stage shows. The students are costumed and we run our show with lights, sound and a beautifully constructed set. During rehearsal we focus on how to read a script and create a character as well as proper dance and vocal technique. Rehearsals are every Saturday either from 9 am to 12pm or 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm depending on which cast you choose.

The RTW Scholarship Fund

Purpose

The purpose of the Riverside Theatre Works Scholarship Program is to enrich the lives of Hyde Park youth who already have a particular interest and/or aptitude in theater – performing, singing or dancing – and have not been able to attend RTW due to a lack of financial resources.

Criteria

  • Students must reside in Hyde Park or attend school in Hyde Park.
  • Families must demonstrate financial need.
  • Families must submit contact information for a school teacher that is familiar with the student’s interests and abilities.
  • Each student will have a 10-15-minute interview including singing a song of their choice. The distribution of awards will reflect the demographics of Hyde Park.
  • Students granted a scholarship must attend all sessions and participate fully in the production.
  • Students will also complete a brief written reflection on their experience after the production and may be asked to participate in a brief interview.

Process

Apply Complete Google Form Application (CLICK TO VIEW).

Documents Email proof of income (W2, Tax Returns, Paystubs) to RTWScholarship@gmail.com or deliver to Riverside Theater Works, Scholarship Director prior to the application deadline.

Referral The Scholarship Director will contact the student’s school teacher and request completion of a referral form.

Interview Attend a scheduled interview/audition. Scholarship Director will contact families who meet all criteria and have submitted completed applications (including proof of income) to schedule interview/audition time.
