Disney’s Moana JR. is a thrilling 60-minute musical adaptation of the 2016 animated hit, Moana. Join the adventurous Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific on a daring journey to save her village and discover her true destiny. With the help of the once-mighty demigod Maui, she faces impossible odds and uncovers the strength within. Featuring beloved songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, Moana JR. brings the spirit of Oceania to life on stage with heart, humor, and unforgettable music.

An amazing class for new singers! Sometimes, jumping into one-on-one voice lessons can be intimidating for our young students. We are excited to offer a group class that will teach the fundamentals of singing, music terminology, ear training and stage presence. This class will prepare each student to be able to enter into private voice lessons and performance opportunities with confidence.
This group will have the opportunity to perform at recitals as well as select events at RTW.
-The class costs $765 and will be split into 6 equal payments of $127.50, with one payment due at registration and the remaining payments processed on February 1, March 1, April 1, May 1 and June 1. After registration is completed you will be brought to a parent payment portal where you can make your first payment of $127.50, if you would like to pay for the class in full you can input $765 at this time and a credit will be added to your account.

Introducing our youngest performance Troupe! This class will focus on performance polish, building repertoire, stage presence and performing in an ensemble! Various performance opportunities will be available throughout the year at RTW events, and at outside venues representing the theatre and arts in the Greater Boston area.

This is a 45 minute ballet class. Introducing the littles to the wonderful world of dance. Get to meet new friends and learn how to take instruction and work as a group.
Ages 6-8

This fun, 1-hour class introduces young dancers to the basics of jazz and tap in a friendly, encouraging environment. We’ll start with a warm-up, then practice simple steps and easy combinations to build coordination and confidence. Students will learn correct technique and beginner dance terms, while exploring tap rhythms and sounds in a playful, age-appropriate way.
Ages 9-12

Technical knowledge and vocabulary are broadened in these courses. Classes begin with a warm- up followed by floor exercises and development of dance combinations.
Correct execution of jazz steps and terminology are taught. Tap technique is taught focusing on clarity of sounds, creating rhythms and terminology. 1 hour
Ages 13-15
Wednesdays 6-7pm
Cost: $75 monthly through June.
This 1-hour class builds on your dance foundation with a focus on refining jazz and tap technique. We’ll start with a targeted warm-up, move into floor work, and tackle combinations that challenge coordination, style, and precision. Dancers will strengthen their vocabulary, polish execution, and explore tap rhythms with an emphasis on clarity and musicality.
Ages 16+

Designed for experienced dancers, this 1-hour class sharpens your technical skills while expanding your dance vocabulary. Each session begins with a focused warm-up, followed by floor work and challenging Broadway-style combinations. You’ll refine jazz technique and terminology, and build tap precision with an emphasis on sound clarity, rhythmic creativity, and professional execution.
Ages 10-12

Dance classes are a full year class, classes begin the week of September 15th, and end the final week of June.
Please note, refunds are unavailable after the first day of class. By default payments will be split into payments billed monthly, starting at registration.

RTW offers private Vocal, Dance and Piano lessons. Lessons are offered in 30, 45 and 60 minute slots.

There are no refunds after classes begin. Because of our faculty’s full schedules, students who are late for a private lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. Faculty will wait ten minutes for a student; students are asked to do the same. Missed lesson times due to faculty tardiness will be made up at a mutually convenient time.
Canner Family Scholarship Program
The purpose of the Riverside Theatre Works Scholarship Program is to enrich the lives of youth who already have a particular interest and/or aptitude in theater – performing, singing or dancing – and have not been able to attend RTW camp or classes for lack of financial resources.

Criteria
1. Students and their families must reside in Hyde Park or a surrounding community.
2. Families must meet financial need standards.
3. Each student must submit contact information from a reference (ie: teacher, coach, etc) that is
familiar with their interests and abilities.
4. Each student will have a 10-15-minute interview.
5. The distribution of awards will reflect the demographics of Hyde Park and surrounding communities.
6. Students granted a scholarship must be prepared to attend all sessions and participate fully in the
production or class. They also will complete a brief written reflection on their experience after the production, and may be asked to participate in a brief interview.
Process
1. Application and financial information must be emailed to scholarships@rtwboston.org or be delivered to Riverside Theatre Works.
2. The RTW scholarship director will review and meet with applicants who qualify. Note that scholarships are limited. Students who do not receive a scholarship are welcome to apply again another time.
3. RTW Staff will inform students and parents of decision and guide them through registration for the class.
2024 Programming Announced

Referral The Scholarship Director will contact the student’s school teacher and request completion of a referral form.
Interview Attend a scheduled interview/audition. Scholarship Director will contact families who meet all criteria and have submitted completed applications (including proof of income) to schedule interview/audition time.
