This class will perform in the voice Recital June 8th.

An amazing class for new singers! Sometimes, jumping into one-on-one voice lessons can be intimidating for our young students. We are excited to offer a group class that will teach the fundamentals of singing, music terminology, ear training and stage presence. This class will prepare each student to be able to enter into private voice lessons and performance opportunities with confidence. This group will have the option to perform at the end of the year voice recital together as an ensemble.

Session II

Youth Musical Theater Audition and Performance Workshop (Ages 7-13)

February 28th- March 27th
Wednesdays 5:30-6:30PM.

We are so happy our RTW kids love to perform in our shows, but auditioning can sometimes feel scary! We will help your child learn how to feel confident by showing them special skills we can develop as actors to make our auditions the best they can be! They will go out for their next show with confidence and ease after this workshop!

Session III

Adult Musical Theater Audition and Performance Workshop (Ages 18+)

April 3rd- May 8th. (No class on 4/17)
Wednesdays 6:30PM-8:00PM.

Whether you are a seasoned performer or new to the biz, polishing those audition skills is always a great idea! We will take a look at song choice, how to present and perform your audition cuts, tips and tricks for cold-reads/callback materials and how to nail your dance call (even if you are a beginner dancer!) We will have a blast in these 5 weeks

Session IV

Youth Improv/ Comedy Workshop (Ages 8-13)

May 15th- June 12th
Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm.

Give your child the gift of laughter and valuable life skills. Playing Improv games and participating in acting exercises in a safe fun space develops self confidence, self awareness, listening, focus, public speaking,creative writing, critical thinking and more.

Preschool Dance

Ages 3-4
Mondays 3:00-3:45pm

This 45 minute ballet and tap class is designed specifically for our littlest movers! They’ll embark on a journey to build a strong foundation in movement, enhance coordination, balance and motor skills while
fostering a love for dance.

Basic Dance

Ages 5-6
Mondays 4:00-5:00pm

Dive into the world of rhythm and technique! During this hour long class, dancers will explore the intricate artistry of tap and the expressive flair of jazz, all while focusing on building a solid foundation of technique.

Jazz & Tap I

Ages 7-9
Mondays 5:00-6:00pm

Technical knowledge and vocabulary are broadened in these courses. Classes begin with a warm- up followed by floor exercises and development of dance combinations. Correct execution of jazz steps and terminology are taught. Tap technique is taught focusing on clarity of sounds, creating rhythms and terminology.

Jazz & Tap II

Ages 10-12
Mondays 6:00-7:00pm

Intro to Hip-Hop

Ages 10-12
Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm

A course that will teach a different way of moving. Hip hop is an attack of the upper and lower body!

Advanced Jazz & Tap

Ages 13+
Mondays 7:00-8:00pm

Advanced class. Classes begin with a warm- up followed by floor exercises and development of dance combinations. Correct execution of jazz steps and terminology are taught. Tap technique is taught focusing on clarity of sounds, creating rhythms and terminology. 1 hour

Advanced Hip-Hop

Ages 13+ Tuesdays 6:00-7:00pm Advanced course that will teach a different way of moving. Hip hop is an attack of the upper and lower body!

Adult Tap

Ages 18+ 
Mondays 8:00-9:00pm

Dance for enjoyment and get exercise all at the same time. Emphasis is placed on applying basic techniques including warm up and across the floor.

Description

RTW offers private vocal, dance and acting lessons! Lessons are offered in 30, 45 and 60 minute slots.

Policy

There are no refunds after classes begin. Because of our faculty’s full schedules, students who are late for a private lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. Faculty will wait ten minutes for a student; students are asked to do the same. Missed lesson times due to faculty tardiness will be made up at a mutually convenient time.

In this beginner ballet/tap combination class, students will dig into ballet and tap technique and fundamentals.

Mary Poppins Jr.

Description

Students from the ages of 7 to 13 will experience the full effects of participating in a musical. Our spring Musical Theatre class offers every element of our main stage shows. The students are costumed and we run our show with lights, sound and a beautifully constructed set. During rehearsal we focus on how to read a script and create a character as well as proper dance and vocal technique. Rehearsals are every Saturday either from 9 am to 12pm or 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm depending on which cast you choose.

2024 Programming Announced

Purpose

The purpose of the Riverside Theatre Works Scholarship Program is to enrich the lives of Hyde Park youth who already have a particular interest and/or aptitude in theater – performing, singing or dancing – and have not been able to attend RTW due to a lack of financial resources.

Criteria

  • Students must reside in Hyde Park or attend school in Hyde Park.
  • Families must demonstrate financial need.
  • Families must submit contact information for a school teacher that is familiar with the student’s interests and abilities.
  • Each student will have a 10-15-minute interview including singing a song of their choice. The distribution of awards will reflect the demographics of Hyde Park.
  • Students granted a scholarship must attend all sessions and participate fully in the production.
  • Students will also complete a brief written reflection on their experience after the production and may be asked to participate in a brief interview.

Process

Apply Complete Google Form Application (CLICK TO VIEW).

Documents Email proof of income (W2, Tax Returns, Paystubs) to RTWScholarship@gmail.com or deliver to Riverside Theater Works, Scholarship Director prior to the application deadline.

Referral The Scholarship Director will contact the student’s school teacher and request completion of a referral form.

Interview Attend a scheduled interview/audition. Scholarship Director will contact families who meet all criteria and have submitted completed applications (including proof of income) to schedule interview/audition time.
