BEEHIVE celebrates the powerful female voices of the 1960’s with such timeless hits as “My Boyfriend’s Back,” “Be My Baby,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” and “Me and Bobby McGee.” Told from the perspective of six young women who come of age in this enigmatic decade, BEEHIVE takes us from their first Beehive Dance to the challenges we faced as a nation.

The Company

Juanita Dessources is extremely excited to be part of her 2nd theatre production with Riverside Theatre Works! (Debut Performance as “Nikki Marron in The Bodyguard – The Musical 2021).  Before coming to RTW, she grew up singing in the choir and participating in linguistical dance groups in the church. She is forever grateful for these new experiences that RTW has offered to her, to express her creative talents! She gives a special thank-you to the director of this project- Trey Lundquist, for this role in the Beehive Musical!

Barb Brien (Laura) is thrilled to be joining the cast of Beehive the Musical in her 8th  main stage production at RTW! Previous productions have included ensemble roles in Sister Act, All Shook Up, The Secret Garden, Dream Girls, The Bodyguard and RENT (Alexi Darling). Barb would like to thank her husband Gerry and three daughters Mairead, Kagan and Brenna for their boundless love and support.  She would also like also to thank all her friends that are constantly cheering her on and supporting her through all of her musical theater adventures!  Lastly, Barb would like to thank founding director of RTW Marietta Phinney for creating such a wonderful space filled with friendship, creativity, and love.

Morgan Doherty (Pattie) is so excited to have the opportunity to do this show with these beautiful and talented women. This is her fifth main stage production with RTW. Previous RTW credits include: The Bodyguard (Backup Vocalist), Hello, Dolly! (Minnie Faye), RENT (Seasons of Love soloist), and Cabaret (Texas). Some other past credits include: RENT (Maureen), 9 to 5 (Doralee), Into the Woods (The Witch), Heathers(Heather Chandler), The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Pickles), The Spitfire Grill (Percy: DASH award nominee, Best Lead Actress in a Musical). Morgan would like to dedicate this performance to her mother, Laurie, who she knows is dancing along with us up there.

Maharah Paul (Jasmine) is so excited to be back on stage after four long years. This is her third mainstage production at RTW, she last played the role of Lorelle in Dreamgirls. Maharah would like to express how grateful she if for this theatre and every opportunity she has to be on stage. She would like to thank her fiance Jared and their two kids Jeremiah and Andre for letting their Mama go do her favorite thing besides being their Mom.

Kariana Santos (Alison) is thrilled to perform in her third mainstage production at RTW! She was previously seen in Cabaret (Lulu) and RENT (Seasons of Love Soloist), which is making its return to the RTW stage soon. Kariana is a Denison University graduate with a BA in Theatre, and an MA in Theatre Education from Emerson College. She would like to thank her Mom, Dad, and Devin for their constant love and support in her pursuit of her passions.

Aniliza May (Wanda) is delighted to be performing in RTW’s mainstage production of Beehive the Musical. Some of her previous productions include Rent (Mimi), Cabaret (Fritzie), and Hello Dolly! (Ermengarde) at RTW, USO Stage Door Canteen (Evelyn) written and produced by Marietta Phinney, A Chorus Line (Diana Morales) and Pippin (Leading Player) with ISM at the University of Illinois. Aniliza would like to thank the production team and her fellow castmates – it is such a treat to share the stage with you all. She would also like to thank her parents for their constant support and for always making the trek from Illinois to come see her shows, it means the world.

Trey Lundquist (Director/Music Director) is an actor, music director, voice teacher, and musician in the Greater Boston Area. Notable credits include: As an actor, Roger Davis in RENT, Cliff in Cabaret, Man 2 in Songs for a New World, Jamie in The Last Five Years, and Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (Riverside Theater Works), Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard (Arlington Friends of the Drama), Fluke Holland in The Million Dollar Quartet (Greater Boston Stage Company), and George Berger in Hair (MMAS Blackbox). As a Music Director, American Idiot (Phoenix Playmakers), RENT (Un-Common Theater Company, Winner – Moss Hart Award), Legally Blonde (Sharon High School), Joseph and the… Dreamcoat (Temple Beth Avodah), Godspell (Framingham State University), Pippin, Cabaret, and Something Rotten (Un-Common Theater Company), Spring Awakening and Grease (The School at RTW), and upcoming, RENT: A Staged Concert (Riverside Theater Works). Trey is a private voice teacher at Riverside Theater Works and from his home studio, and has placed students at Marymount Manhattan College, The Berklee College of Music, Wagner College, and as performers at the Jimmy Awards in New York City. He is also the co-founder and co-owner of Studio E33 Productions, a music production and recording company (notable productions include The Get Better by FuzzKill, the podcast Theater Man-Date, and most recently, the singles “Hang the Moon” by artist Stefani Wood, and “Haus Boi” and “Summer Rental” by Haus Boi). Cat Umano Whittaker (Choreography) Cat is thrilled to be working on her first production with Riverside! She has been teaching and choreographing for over 10 years for several theatre companies, schools, and more. Past choreo credits include: Legally Blonde, Spamalot, The SpongeBob Musical (Director & Choreographer), Coach for Westlake High’s Junior Varsity ballroom formation team, and Social Dance Instructor for Brigham Young University. Cat also independently runs Bay State Ballroom, which specializes in wedding dances and all styles of ballroom and social dance. When she isn’t teaching, Cat is also still actively dancing and performing. She just recently finished the 2023 season dancing for the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun Dance Team. Release the bees!
